Overview
A lovely family in Menlo Park, CA are seeking a nanny to help care for their 2-month-old boy. The family is looking for an experienced nanny who is caring, thoughtful, and can help care for their son with a gentle and respectful approach. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, 40 hours per week guaranteed. Both parents have hybrid roles and will be in and out of the home so as to remain as hands on with baby as possible, while also maintaining their work schedules.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall care for the baby
- Maintaining the parents' philosophies of engaging, respectful, gentle style of parenting
- Remain safety conscious
- Help ensure the baby is on a feeding routine, helping mom with breastfeeding, and assisting with bottles if needed
- Help implement a sleep routine and schedule when needed, but also follow baby's cues of when he is tired, hungry, etc
- Provide professional guidance as it pertains to baby, while respecting the family’s personal preferences
- Engage with baby: provide fun age-appropriate activities, supervising any activities that might come up, go on walks, encourage developmental play, help with developmental milestone
- Child related light housekeeping to help maintain an organized space, including laundry, sanitizing toys, and helping tidy baby spaces
Qualifications
- The family values safety, attention to details, and hygiene, and asks that the nanny does as well
- Thoughtful, caring, honest, humble but confident
- Good health and ability to physically care for a baby and all it entails
- Comfortable in a busy home when extra family is in town
- Strong communication skills
- Someone looking for long term
- There are no pets in the home, and a cat allergy, candidates without cats of their own is ideal
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional nannying experience with at least 3 references
- Experience with infants
- Great communicator
- No ego: able to provide recommendations when needed, but also take cues from and respect the family's choices
- Can easily navigate the role with involved parents at home
- Must maintain a healthy hygiene
- Up to date on all vaccinations, or willing to update before start date
- CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to certify
- TrustLine certified, or willing to certify
- Legal to work in the US
Salary and Benefits
- Hourly rate is $35-$45, based on experience
- 3 weeks vacation, 5 personal days, holidays
