Overview
A family in Oakton, VA (Northern Virginia; 20 miles outside of Washington DC) is seeking a full-time live-out developmentally-focused nanny for their 9-month-old son. The schedule is Monday through Friday 7/8am-4/5pm with a guarantee of 40 hours per week and overtime when applicable. Many weeks may be up to 45 hours each week.
The family has two children, their eldest has their own nanny. The family’s infant is easygoing, happy, and always smiling! He is taking a few steps, crawling, and loves stimulating activities. He attends gym class twice per week and swim class twice per week (nanny will be in the pool with him). The family values a person who is interactive with the child, creative, cultivating, and planning new activities. The role starts as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
- Implementing educational activities and classes (it is important for the nanny to implement educational activities such as flash cards, stimulate and foster development and growth, create and maintain a schedule of educational activities)
- Implementing and creating a nap, feeding, and daily schedule for the child and adjusting it as the child grows
- Liaising with parents and other members of staff
- Speech/developmental activities to encourage talking
- Driving/accompanying the child to activities
- Making healthy meals for the child
- Family travels throughout the year, it is important that their nanny be available to travel for international or domestic trips comprising some long weekends and overnights with the family or at the family’s home
Qualifications
- A nanny with an educationally-focused background is ideal (I.E. preschool, daycare, etc.)
Requirements
- Someone who is engaging, adaptable, and creative
- Nanny must have a deep understanding of child development and education and can apply it accordingly
- Licensed driver with a clean driving record
- Competent swimmer
- Passport or willing to obtain
- 5+ years professional nanny experience
- Extensive experience with infants/toddlers preferably with a child development background/education
- CPR & First Aid certified or willing to be recertified upon hire
Salary and Benefits
