Overview
A wonderful couple in Boston is seeking a newborn care specialist to support them following the birth of their first child, due November 8th. The shift will be 7pm-7am with the term being until December 27thor 28th with the option to extend. Ideally the NCS will work 7 evenings per week, however, the family is open to less. This is holiday season and the NCS will be expected to work Thanksgiving, but not on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. This is not a live-in position.
Responsibilities
- Postpartum care, breastfeeding or bottle-feeding help, sleep teaching and training
- New parent education such as swaddling, feeding, bathing, sleep prep.
- Circumcision wound monitoring and care and umbilical cord care
- Light housekeeping related to baby - baby's laundry, bottle/pump part cleaning and sanitizing, sanitizing and cleaning baby's toys
- Engage baby during the day and encourage their development through age-appropriate activities
- Walks and outdoor time for baby
- Provide recommendations on items to buy for the nursery and baby
- Keep detailed records of the baby’s daily activities, including feeding times, diaper changes, and sleep patterns
Qualifications
- Warm, nurturing personality with a collaboration mindset
- Deep understanding of newborn care practices, infant development, and safety precautions
- Reliable, adaptable, and patient
- Excellent communication skills
Requirements
- Current infant CPR certificate
- Customary vaccinations such as MMR and tDap
- 5+ years as an NCS
- NCS certification preferred but not required
- Must be legal to work in the U.S.
Salary and Benefits
$40-$50/hr based on experience and credentials
