Overview
A kind and caring family of four living in Lower Manhattan, NYC, is seeking a live-out Spanish speaking nanny to help care for their 2.5-year-old daughter and 4-month-old son. The schedule would be Monday through Friday, 8am-6pm, with the option for the nanny to stay later some evenings to babysit. Their daughter will start school in the Fall (afternoons) and is extremely interested in learning languages. The candidate would be required to speak to the children in both Spanish and English to encourage their understanding.
Mom is currently on maternity leave but will be returning to work full-time mid-September. There are occasions when she would also travel for work; during this time, the nanny would be required to arrive earlier in the morning, 7am approx 2-3 times a month.
The family is very organized, and the candidate should be able to organise themselves or be able to take on the current system they have in place. The parents are loving, hands-on, family-focused and have a gentle but firm (authoritative) approach to parenting, and believe consistency is key.
They are seeking a nanny with excellent communication skills with not only anything related to navigating the employee/employer relationship but also sending photos/text updates throughout the day; as well as notifying them of any issues ie. behavioral, health, something that happened at school, etc.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to a coordinated schedule for both children
- Buy groceries for the children's meals
- Prepare healthy and nutritious meals for the children
- Maintain an organized household as it relates to the children’s rooms, strollers and toys
- Challenge their daughter and son to encourage their knowledge of Spanish
- The family have a housekeeper who tends to the whole house, but the family would still expect the candidate to be a proactive partner in the household, ie empty the dishwasher if full, remove stains from the children's clothing ASAP, etc.
- Ensure the children are meeting their educational milestones, by organizing and researching fun activities
Qualifications
- A swimmer is a plus but not a requirement
- A driver would be a plus but not a requirement
- Ability to babysit on evenings or weekends is a plus but not a requirement
- Ability to travel with the family (ie to the Hamptons) is a plus but not a requirement
Requirements
- The candidate should be warm & loving towards the children
- Engaging & dynamic
- Use good judgment, especially regarding safety
- Be receptive to feedback/and a partner in the household
- Have flexibility as needs change
- The candidate must be a native Spanish speaker or grew up bilingual
The candidate must have experience working as a nanny in a private household
Experience caring for children of this age group
- CPR certification is a MUST
The candidate should be available and ready to join the family after September 2nd
Salary and Benefits
- The family are offering $30-$35 per hour
- Guaranteed 50 hours a week plus over time
- PTO, 2 weeks’ vacation plus anticipated extra days throughout the year
