Overview
A family based in SoHo, Manhattan, is seeking a nanny with a background in either Speech Therapy/Speech Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), Human Development, or other relevant field, to help care for their 3.5 and 5-year-old (both of whom are highly sensitive/gifted) on weekends. The schedule will ideally be 10am-6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, but the family is also open to half days on either or both days. Weekends will be spent in the City, Upstate (near Rhinebeck), or occasionally elsewhere, such as the family’s other residence in CA.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of the children at all times
- Work on social pragmatics, processing speed, attention, focus, phonemic expression/proficiency, and fine and gross motor skills, specifically with the 5-year-old, who has worked with a speech therapist for the last 2.5 years.
- Work on positive conflict resolution between the children
- Foster positive relationship-building
- If one of the children is having a sensory meltdown, candidates should have the confidence and skillset to navigate this appropriately
- Taking the children on nature walks, to the park, the shops, etc.
- The family has a chef and a housekeeper, so there typically won’t be any snack or meal prep required
- Very minor broader assistance e.g.clearing the dining table, putting on a load of laundry, and helping keep areas tidy and organized
Qualifications
- Must have an educational background in Speech Therapy/Speech Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), Human Development, or other relevant field. Studies in these areas can be ongoing and do not need to be completed.
- Must be positive, authentic, engaging, and grounded, with plenty of emotional intelligence, common sense, and practical knowledge in terms of how to connect with children
Requirements
- US passport, Green Card, or EAC
- Have a clean and current driving record
- Be available to start ASAP
Salary and Benefits
- $65++/hr depending on the candidate’s level of experience and education
