Overview
A family on the Upper East Side are seeking a temporary rotational career nanny for their two sons, ages 10 and 4. One child just had surgery and the family is in-need of extra help from now until after Labor day. The role will be 7-days-on 7-days-off. The family splits their time between their homes in Millbrook, NY and on the Upper East Side of Manhattan- typically they spend weekends upstate and weekdays in the city. The client is looking for someone who can live-out while they are in NYC and can live-in (in a separate cottage on the property) while they’re upstate on weekends and during the Summers. The family can provide a live-in set-up in NYC for the right person.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will consist of caring for their 9-year-old son who has mild cerebral palsy. He is active, bright, and funny, but has some mild physical disability as well as some social-emotional processing difficulties. Other duties include all tasks related to childcare for the three-year-old.
- Engaging with him actively in play and spending time outdoors swimming and running around
- Keeping him on a structured routine.
- Assisting with any scheduling and planning of appointments as well as keeping on top of the child’s needs
- When the family is back in NYC, the candidate will organize/host play-dates and take the children to museums, parks, and activities.
- Prepare meals for the children (the family does have a chef/HM in Millbrook so cooking is rare)
- Handle light housekeeping related to the children
Qualifications
- The ideal candidate is clean, organized, and detail oriented
- The family is looking for a self-starter who has an understanding of child development
- Someone who has experience managing children with special needs is ideal for their son, but the candidate must be calm, patient, and energetic
Requirements
- The candidate must have CPR certification and a clean driving record (a car will be provided for all on-duty hours)
- The ability to swim is a necessity, as the family has a pool at their home upstate.
- The nanny must also be comfortable with dogs, as they have a small dachshund.
- The family requires that their nanny get a flu shot and be vaccinated for COVID.
Salary and Benefits
- Weekly salary is comepetive and starts around $1800+ per week
