Overview
A family in the West Village is seeking a warm, energetic part-time live-out nanny. The family’s children are 5 months old and 3 years old. The family employs a full-time nanny who has cared for the 3 year old since infancy, and the candidate to hire will primarily be responsible for the 5 month old. However, the ideal candidate will have flexibility to care for either child as needed. The schedule for this part-time position is Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., though the family is open to hearing from exceptional candidates who have slightly different hours available.
Responsibilities
- Engaging the infant in age-appropriate activities as well as participating with him in a variety of caregiver and me classes
- Caring for the infant’s daily needs through feeding, diapering, dressing, and assisting with naps
- Coordinating with other household employees to manage inventory of baby supplies and ensure that the infant’s nursery and belongings are clean and tidy
- Coordinating with the family’s full-time nanny so that the siblings can spend time together in between each of their various activities
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will be passionate about early childhood development and excited to encourage the infant’s physical, cognitive, and social-emotional growth through each developmental stage and milestone
- The parents seek a candidate who can work collaboratively with them to ensure that the caregiving practices in the home are informed by up-to-date research and carefully tailored to the infant’s ever-changing needs
- The ideal candidate will also have a warm, patient, and gentle approach and will be committed to creating a supportive, nurturing, and stimulating environment for the infant, with a particular emphasis on play-based learning
Salary and Benefits
- The hourly rate for this role is $40 and paid on the books and through a payroll service on a W2
- The family is also offering transit benefits in the form of a monthly unlimited MetroCard
