Overview
A family in La Jolla is seeking a full-time family assistant. There are 3 children in the home who are over the age of 10. There are 2 dogs in the home. The projected schedule is Monday through Friday 2pm-7pm or 8pm but they can provide more hours to make it up to 40 hours weekly (i.e. 12pm-7pm or 8pm or some hours on Saturday). The role begins as soon as possible.
Responsibilities
- Fresh and healthy meal planning/preparation for family (only dinner will need to be cooked; for breakfast just to have something ready to go the next morning such as cut up fruit).
- Full responsibility for managing all aspects of the kitchen
- Inventory checklists for household items, food, children’s essentials, principals’ essentials, etc. and to order through Amazon, Instacart, etc.
- Maintain comprehensive household manuals setting priorities for tasks on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and an annual basis
- Transport children to and from school, activities, play dates, camps, etc.
- Pack the children healthy lunches and bags for the following day (e.g., ensure all school work is completed, pack gear for sports and activities, etc.)
- Pack and unpack children for trips/travel (create pack lists in advance to ensure children have everything needed prior to travel)
- Event planning for children’s themed birthday parties and other events (e.g., plan, organize, and oversee execution day of event)
- Maintain file systems including those for household operations, warranty manuals, household equipment, invitations, entertainment logs, etc.
- Run errands (e.g., shopping for home supplies, returns, purchasing school supplies for beginning of school year and needed throughout the year, purchasing gifts for birthday parties children are attending, and other requested items)
- Organizational projects (e.g., children’s bedrooms, playrooms [toys, crafts, etc.], closets by rotating clothes seasonally, getting rid of outgrown toys and clothing, taking things for donation, etc.
- Assist household staff with projects when necessary (e.g., creating a collaborative/team environment).
Qualifications
- It is preferred, but not necessary, that the candidate to hire has a Bachelor’s degree
Requirements
- Experienced working with at least 2-3 children in previous roles
- Has 2-5+ years of consistent and recent experience working as a nanny, family assistant, teacher or cook
- Has 2-3+ verifiable references from previous roles
- Someone who is seeking longevity (e.g., at least 2-5+ years)
- Lives in a close proximity to the family’s residence in La Jolla
- Has a safe vehicle for transportation (the candidate to hire will use their own vehicle for this role but will be reimbursed for gas mileage)
- Has a driver’s license and a clean driving record
- CPR/First Aid certified (adults/children)
Salary and Benefits
- The hourly rate for this role is $40-45
- The family won't provide relocation assistance for this role so candidate to hire must live within a reasonable commute to La Jolla, CA
