Overview
A loving and close-knit family in the Flatiron district of New York seeks a full-time, live-out energetic career nanny for their active 2.5-year-old son who needs some encouragement and guidance with social skills. The general schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm with flexibility to work occasional extended hours for date nights or weekend coverage. Their son will be going to preschool 3 days per week starting in the Fall from 2pm to 4:30pm. Eventually the family is looking to expand, and they would like for the candidate to be with them long-term. Ideally, the nanny will start before the end of August.
Responsibilities
All aspects of full-charge childcare including, but not limited to:
- Always ensuring safety and well-being of the child
- Bed and bath routine when needed
- Meal prep and cooking of vegetarian food
- General tidying up, organization, and laundry
- Schedule and take to play-dates, activities, speech therapy or other appointments
- Support intellectual, emotional, and social development of the child through appropriate play and activities
- Communicate clearly and consistently with parents about any highlights, questions or concerns
- Provide guidance, structure, encouragement and emotional support
- Set thoughtful boundaries
- Grocery shopping and child-related errands
- Family laundry and additional errand running are not required, but would be a plus and could be done when child is in school
Qualifications
- Ability to prepare vegetarian food. This is a meatless household, and no meat products are to be brought into the home even for personal consumption
- Strong communication skills
- Outgoing, active, kind, and friendly demeanor
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, and trustworthy
- Have a true passion for children and childhood development
- Receptive to parental feedback
- Knowledge of childhood milestones and how to support and encourage child’s development, social and emotional development in particular
- Ability to travel, drive and swim are not required but would be huge pluses
Requirements
- Comfortable with parents working from home a few days a week and having family members come by
- Must be respectful and adhere to family’s dietary practices
- Flexibility with occasional schedule changes
- Must be legal to work in the U.S.
- Previous experience is a similar role
Salary and Benefits
The family is offering $35+ per hour, a negotiable medical stipend, PTO and metro card
