Overview
A wonderful family of five on the Upper West Side are seeking a seasoned house manager to oversee their 10,000 square foot home. There is a second residence in West Islip, where the family spend various weekends through out the year, and a full 8 weeks in the Summer. During this time, candidates would be expected to work out of this residence instead of the UWS property, though there will be no need to live-in. This is a new role and the schedule will typically be Monday through Friday from 9am-5pm. There may sometimes be additional hours required in the evenings or on weekends, if ever they are hosting an event or entertaining.
Responsibilities
- Overseeing a small household staff (housekeeper/chef/babysitters/nannies), including hiring and training
- HVAC maintenance
- Managing contractors/vendors
- Readying the family’s second residence prior to their arrival, especially in the Summer months
- Organization projects
- Experience creating systems and processes to help both homes run more efficiently
- Managing the household budget
- Generally preempting the family’s needs and identifying tasks that haven’t necessarily been communicated to the candidate
Qualifications
- Must have at least 5-10 years' experience in a similar role
- Must have verifiable and superlative references
Requirements
- Be proactive and forward thinking
- Be detail-oriented and organized
- Experience managing staff, including hiring and firing
- Experience creating household and staff manuals is a huge plus
- Candidate must be prepared to work closely with the executive housekeeper and roll up their sleeves to assist them when required - be it in their absence for whatever reason or working with them as a team to get a job done
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Driving is a huge plus
- US passport, Green Card or EAC
- Available to start ASAP
Salary and Benefits
- $120-$150k+
